This blog will hold my random thoughts about technology in the classroom. It is sometimes overwhelming and at the same time exciting to see what is out there. Come along for the ride.

Connected or not--that is the question
Why does our society feel the need for constant connection with peers and "friends." Do we have to be connected 24/7? What happened to getting away from it ALL? Connection is a convenience but when does it become an intrusion?

A Ph.D. Really?
I am sort of amazed that I am on the verge of starting a Ph.D. Wow--what an exciting time for me. I can't wait to get started and see how this works.
Virtual Worlds
Everything keeps coming back to virtual worlds and how they can be used in education. Why is it so hard for me to grasp this concept and get involved in Second Life? For the K12 environment, it may not be available but there are other virtual worlds that are for K12 education. That must move to the top of the list at some point.
Blogging for students

Moving ahead with education
Just having finished a second masters degree in the spring, my thinking is moving on to a Ph.D. But oh, the cost. Why does it cost so much to get a degree? Starting as late as I did to go back to school, now the question is how reasonable is it to start on another degree and spend all that money when I am pushing 64 in January? But it is so delightful to go to school and continue learning!
Social Media Class
I am excited with the prospect of auditing a class on social media. How our world is changing and we either get on the whirlwind or be left in the dust. Is this good or bad? Are we losing the personal touch or adding a different version? How do we use it in schools--that is the overall question.
